My Maternity Portrait Showcase
Some women wonder, “Why does she put a maternity portrait gallery on the same site as her boudoir photos?” Great question. I decided a long time ago that there were obvious similarities between my boudoir work and my maternity work? Chief among them was the fact that both were a visual celebration of what makes women awesome.
Women are sexy. That’s awesome. And that inherent sexiness leads to the true power of women: we are the source of all human life! “Awesome” is an understatement.
In my mind, boudoir and maternity portraits go hand in hand. Both are an intimate expression of the very things that most of us are truly nervous and shy about, and a celebration that both are truly what makes women powerful beings.
The Maternity Portrait as Sacred Icon
From Jesus and Mary to Siddartha and Queen Maya, we have always instinctively known in humanity’s art that without woman, none of this happens. No human has ever existed without a mother. I take that truth very seriously and revere the sacred feminine in every woman who honors me by allowing me to capture them in the fullness of their maternal beauty.
Don’t get me wrong there’s still a lot of fun, lightheartedness, and ease to maternity sessions, but the sacred reality of mothers as the source of all human life is never out of mind.
