What led me to become a boudoir photographer?
Believe it or not, my becoming a boudoir photographer has a lot to do with my personal struggles with self image.
I grew up with very negative self-perceptions and low self-esteem and I hid these insecurities from everyone. In fact, most people thought I was the opposite: to them, I appeared confident and gregarious. Yet, deep down I always felt like the chunky girl with the un-diagnosed thyroid problems. I could not hear those who loved me and insisted that I was beautiful.
Fortunately, as I grew older, I finally began to peel back those ugly layers of self-hate and insecurity. A huge part of that awakening was learning to love my body and my innate female sexiness. My eyes opened to the ways in which women are shamed and brainwashed by society for being female. Society makes us feel bad about the very things that make women powerful. Women are powerful in ways men can never be!
I learned to celebrate the things about my being a woman that gave me power. Feeling sexy gives me power. Being a mother gives me power.
I am so honored you are considering letting me help celebrate what makes you an amazing woman, too.
