It’s Question/Answer time!!!
A new fun way I’ve decided to start blogging some of my sessions and letting you hear ALL about it, straight from the ladies that have done a boudoir shoot with me!!!
Sue won a contest I held back at the begginning of the year, so I thought I’d start with her. She is a lovely lady, that has been through entirely way to much the last couple of years, and deserved everything bit of the pampering. But, after getting to hear some of her asnwers, it’s clear that getting boudoir photos done were so much more to her. I think everyone has a reason to do something great for themselves. Something risque and out of your comfort level. You too might benefit in ways you didn’t even know were possible. So here are some questions I asked the beautiful Sue, and a few shots from her stunning session at the end!
1. Sue, you won my Changing Seasons contest with a free boudoir shoot and album. What encouraged you to go after the big win?
A few years back my best friend had a boudoir photo session done as a gift for her husband’s 50th birthday. I loved the idea but because of my weight it was something I didn’t think I’d ever feel comfortable doing. But I always thought……’someday, I’ll lose the weight and do it’. Then a tragedy occurred in my life. My 20 year old daughter had died suddenly in a rock climbing accident. My daughter was a talented amateur photographer and always wanted to take my picture but I always put her off.
When I saw Charlotte was having a contest for a boudoir photo session I didn’t think much about it at first. But something kept nagging at me. I kept hearing my daughter’s voice in the back of my head saying, “You should do this Mama. You NEED to do this.” So I went ahead and wrote my essay. I never thought I would win. So many beautiful women had entered and up until the very end had a lot more votes than I did. But my friends and family came through for me and got me the votes to win. What a surprise!
2. How do you feel about getting your picture taken? And what do photographs mean to you?
When I was younger I never thought much about my picture being taken. I have tons of photos of me with my kids as babies. But after I turned 40 and had some physical problems I put on a lot of weight. My face had changed a lot and I started to see myself as looking terrible in every photo taken of me. Eventually, I stopped letting people take my photo altogether. On rare occasions I would have to be in photos and would either not look at it or in certain instances when I wanted a photo, I’d have them take several hoping I’d at least like one.
And again, the death of my daughter has affected the meanings of photos to me. There isn’t anything I can do about it now, but as I look through old photos, I find there are none of my daughter and me all through her teen and young adult years. So photos have now become very important to me.
3. Describe your body type in 3 words
I can’t find 3 words to describe my body. Because of spinal and arthritis issues, I feel like my body is my worst enemy. I look in the mirror and don’t recognize this “fat suit” as being my body.
4. What did you love most about your body before your boudoir session?
Prior to my photo session my favorite body parts were pretty much my wrists and ankles.
5. How do you view the beautiful “skin you’re in” now, after your photo shoot?
Since my boudoir session, I no longer view curves as my enemy. I can now see the sexiness my husband sees in my full breasts and round bottom.
6. What’s your best tip for feeling gorgeous?
After my session I taught myself how to do my hair the way it was done in my photos. Normally, as a busy mom, I don’t take the time to do much to my hair other than pulling it back. I’ve never been one to wear makeup either but I have found that taking a little extra time to do my hair and put on some mascara brings back the beautiful feeling I had during my photo shoot.
7. What was your favorite part about your boudoir session experience?
My favorite part of my experience was seeing that posing my body in certain ways and Charlotte snapping photos from certain angles can make magic happen. Seeing myself, my real, full figured self, through her lens created a self-image for myself I didn’t think I could ever have.
8. What was your husband’s reaction when he got to see the photos?
My husband must have gone through the album I selected 4 or 5 times before he said anything. He was literally speechless. And I asked him, “WELL?!?” and his first response was, “Yowza!” And for a few days it seemed as though he stood a little taller, chest puffed out a little more with a thought bubble over his head saying, “That’s MY wife!”
9. Where are you keeping your sexy little boudoir album in the house?
My husband keeps HIS album in his nightstand drawer. We also ordered prints of most of the photos that were ‘family appropriate’. He immediately framed them and for several evenings after work walked around the house deciding where to hang them. My kids all have pictures too. They’re excited to have photos of me looking happy and confident.
10. Would you encourage other women to do a boudoir session and why?
I would highly recommend every woman have this experience at least once in their life. It will change your attitude about yourself in ways you can’t even imagine.
